Head Teacher’s welcome

I am immensely proud and honoured to be able to welcome you to Wyvern Academy. My vision is to provide ‘Excellence and Opportunity’ for all at all times, through a heartfelt commitment to ensuring that all our young people benefit from what the school has to offer, day in and day out.

At Wyvern Academy every child does matter and we work hard to achieve excellence for all, whether that is in academic studies, sport, music or through our pastoral care and to provide the widest possible opportunities to secure a truly rounded education.

Wyvern Academy is a core member of Consilium Academies, and works with a range of academies with the trust across both the North East and North West of England as well as with schools and academies in the local area to provide the highest possible quality of education.

For every child to achieve to their full potential there needs to be a positive, supportive and well-disciplined environment in which to work. At Wyvern Academy, we provide this through our focus on excellence which ensures that high quality teaching is supported by disruption free learning in an atmosphere of high expectations and high aspirations. As a result we strive to ensure that our young people have the very best chance of achieving success in all aspects of school life.

We want all the children who come to the school to enjoy their school days and to become thoughtful, articulate, confident and responsible members of society through our focus on developing GROWTH; Grit, Responsibility, Opportunities, Wisdom, Thinking Tools and High Achievement, at all times. Our programmes of teaching, and the wide range of extra-curricular activities we offer, are directed to this end.

We know that to achieve our aims we have to work as part of a three-way partnership between the pupil, the school and home. A strong and effective partnership with parents and carers underpins the work we do in school and we look forward to your support in achieving this.

Wyvern Academy is a wonderful school on a continuing journey of rapid and sustained improvement. I would encourage you to take advantage of the current “virtual” opportunities provided through our website to see the excellence and opportunities we strive for day in day out for yourself.
